PLANS have been submitted to build 14 new homes on the site of a former care home in a popular residential area of Barrow.

A mix of 14 detached and semi-detached properties could be built on the land where the now-demolished Rock Lea care home stood, in Abbey Road in Barrow.

The houses will have three and four bedrooms, with some being across three floors. Each property will have car parking and front and rear gardens.

The plans have been submitted by Mulberry Homes, the same Blackburn-based developer behind the new estate being built at the former Thorncliffe School in Barrow.

A decision is set to be made by Barrow Borough Council after a public consultation period ends on January 12.
