The youngsters have also been receiving balloon animals and balloon hats from a balloon modeller and trying out bubble making machines and Wubble bubble balls - which had almost sold out by lunch time.

The first 20 customers through the doors received gift vouchers, valued from £5 to £100, and inside there is Lego competition. The mayor of Barrow, Councillor Tony Callister also attended the opening of the store.

Store manager Rachel Williamson said: "It has been an absolutely amazing day, we couldn't have asked for anything better.

"It has been so busy. The feedback from customers has been fantastic."

Young customer Abigail Williamson-Woodburn, 10, of Barrow, said: "It's fun to meet the Lego characters."

Thomas Treen, three, of Barrow, was excited to look around the new store. His mum Danielle Roberts, 28, said: "Thomas is is happy to be here, he loves toys and he loves Lego."

The Entertainer is located in the former Argos store.
