George and Charlotte begin "lifetime of friendship" with Canada

THE Duke of Cambridge has said his children were beginning their own "lifetime of friendship" with Canada as Prince George took his first tentative steps in the country.

Holding on to his parents' hands, the three-year-old future king of Canada walked down the steps of a military plane when they arrived, while Princess Charlotte was cradled by Kate.

The family of four were beginning a highly anticipated eight-day visit to the Commonwealth country which is a homecoming for the royals as Britain's monarch is also Queen of Canada.

DAVID Cameron became intensely frustrated at Theresa May's unwillingness to declare her intentions in the run-up to the EU referendum campaign, according to his former communications chief.

Sir Craig Oliver said Mrs May failed to support Mr Cameron on 13 separate occasions before she did reluctantly "come off the fence" for Remain - and then only after a "visibly wound up" prime minster gave her a dressing down over the telephone.

JEREMY Corbyn has promised to give more decision-making power to rank-and-file Labour members after being decisively re-elected as party leader on the back of their votes.

Mr Corbyn told the Observer that his emphatic 62 per cent -38 per cent victory over challenger Owen Smith was a "vindication" giving him a "very strong" mandate to lead.

His comments came as London mayor Sadiq Khan warned that a failure to unite after the bruising leadership contest could kill off Labour forever.

Yvette Cooper: I've received online death threats

YVETTE Cooper has called on Jeremy Corbyn to do more to curb the online abuse of Labour MPs after revealing that she has received death threats.

Ms Cooper said one Twitter user claimed they wanted to "behead" her and said Mr Corbyn, who was re-elected leader of the party on Saturday, and shadow chancellor John McDonnell should "back party staff when they try to tackle abuse".

Writing in the Sunday Telegraph, the former shadow foreign secretary said: "Jeremy Corbyn has rightly condemned abuse many times. But when you are the leader of a party with a problem, especially when you have just been re-elected, you should use your authority to deliver action not just words.

Tony Blair "very sorry" troops put through abuse probe "ordeal"

TONY Blair has added his voice to the mounting criticism of investigations into British troops facing allegations of serious misconduct in Iraq or Afghanistan.

The former prime minister said he was "very sorry" that soldiers were being put through such an "ordeal", and said the process looking into claims should never have been set up.

Mr Blair's comments, in an interview with the Sunday Telegraph, come after Defence Secretary Sir Michael Fallon pledged legal support for soldiers affected.

A 35-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested by police investigating claims that Pippa Middleton's iCloud account was hacked.

Scotland Yard said they arrested the man on Saturday evening at an address in Northamptonshire.

Ex-detective links double killer Halliwell to murder of Claudia Lawrence

THE disappearance of chef Claudia Lawrence fits double murderer Christopher Halliwell's "pattern of behaviour", the senior detective who brought him to justice has said.

Former detective superintendent Steve Fulcher caught the 52-year-old following the abduction of Sian O'Callaghan from outside a nightclub in Swindon in March 2011.

The taxi driver would go on to confess to murdering both Miss O'Callaghan and another woman, Becky Godden, and now Mr Fulcher believes Halliwell's links to the area where Miss Lawrence vanished should be investigated.

Relatives gather to offer prayers for fallen police officers

RELATIVES of police officers who have died will light candles and offer prayers in their honour at an annual memorial service.

Around 2,000 family members, friends and dignitaries are expected to gather at St Paul's Cathedral in London this afternoon.

The Prince of Wales, who is patron, will join Home Secretary Amber Rudd and other guests in remembering fallen officers at the 13th National Police Memorial Day.

Body found after police called following reports of boy, 14, in river

A BODY has been found in a river after a 14-year-old boy was reported to have entered the water.

A police helicopter and specialist rescue teams were involved in a search for the teenager after being called to the River Erewash in Stapleford, near Nottingham, on Saturday.

Nottinghamshire Police said its underwater search unit had located the body of a young male after responding to a report that a boy had gone into the river.
