A family planning provider has suspended surgical abortions for girls under 18 and vulnerable women after safety concerns were raised by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

A number of other services offered by Marie Stopes International (MSI) have also been halted to make sure patients are protected from potential harm when undergoing pregnancy terminations.

These include the suspension of terminations under general anaesthetic or conscious sedation, and the suspension of all surgical terminations at the provider's Norwich centre.

Shoreham air crash victims remembered in service on first anniversary

A church service will be held today to remember the 11 men killed in the Shoreham air crash, as the first anniversary of the disaster looms.

Prayers will be said for those who lost their lives when a vintage Hawker Hunter jet crashed on to the A27 in West Sussex during the Shoreham Air Show last August 22.

The service, organised by Shoreham Churches Together, will be held at St Mary de Haura Church in Shoreham, led by the Rev Canon Ann Waizeneker.

Increase of blue badge thefts and numbers caught abusing disability scheme

Blue badge theft has trebled in three years, and the number of people caught abusing the scheme has risen nearly threefold in five years, council chiefs have warned.

The badges enable disabled people to park for free in pay and display bays and for up to three hours on yellow lines, while in London they exempt holders from having to pay the congestion charge.

Analysis of Department for Transport data by the Local Government Association (LGA), which represents more than 370 councils across England and Wales, said there were 2,056 instances of blue badge theft in England in 2015 - a 17 per cent increase on the 1,756 instances recorded in 2014.

Man, 21, charged with murder of Jairo Medina in London's Hyde Park

A 21-year-old man charged with murder following the death of a man in London's Hyde Park will appear in court later.

Hani Khalaf of no fixed address is accused of murdering Jairo Medina, 62, who was found injured by a member of the public at the tourist hotspot.

Khalaf, who was arrested and taken into custody on Thursday, is due to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court.
