POLICE are continuing to investigate the sudden disappearance of a Barrow man as the search enters its third week.

Chris Dixon, who is studying engineering at college, is understood to have mental health issues and police are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.

His family say they understand his bank card was last used to withdraw £10 from the cash machine at the Co-op in Island Road on Barrow Island.

Detectives are going through the process of accessing his bank and phone records now Mr Dixon has been classed as a high risk missing person given the length of time since he was last seen.

The 32-year-old was last seen at around 7.45am on Tuesday October 24, on Abbey Road, near to the junction of Cheltenham Street and Park Drive.

He is described as white and around 5ft 7ins tall. He has short, dark brown hair and a tribal tattoo on the top of his right arm, and another across the back of his shoulders.

He was last seen wearing a black Adidas tracksuit top with grey stripes and black Adidas tracksuit bottoms with grey stripes. He also had with him a dark grey North Face jacket with orange tags.

Mr Dixon's family hope he is staying with a friend and have pleaded with anyone who knows where he might be to get in touch to let them know he is OK.

His disappearance is one of 537 missing person reports that police in Barrow have investigated over the last six months - and he is the only outstanding missing person of that period.

Anyone with information about Mr Dixon's whereabouts can call police on 101 or can contact Rachel Jean Whalley via Facebook.
