MORE flood alerts have been issued for high tide across Barrow, Walney, Ulverston and South Cumbria.

A flood alert is in force for the high tide today, tidal spray and onshore flooding may occur to roads and some properties along the coast may be affected.

People are warned to stay away from the coast.

Environment Agency officers are on the ground ensuring defences are in good working order, monitoring sea levels and wind directions.

The Environment Agency has forecast that the astronomical tide of 5.27m AoD at Barrow in Furness will have a negative surge of -0.1m.

High water can be expected for 2 hours before and after the peak.
