A COMMUNITY has rallied together to celebrate four years of fundraising in memory of a little boy who lost his life to asthma.

Every year, two schoolgirls from Millom organise a community walk in memory of nine-year-old Rylan Cosgrove, who died from an asthma attack in February 2012.

Kyhanna Herdman and Bethany Pattinson, from Millom, have been thanked by Rylan's family for all that they've done to keep his memory alive and raise money for two worthy charities.

Over the years, the pair have raised thousands of pounds for the North West Air Ambulance and the Bluebell Foundation so Rylan's family decided to hold a special event this weekend to say thank you, just days after what should have been Rylan's 14th birthday.

Crowds of people arrived at Millom Rugby League Club on Saturday to watch a memorial rugby match featuring Millom under 14s and Shaw Cross under 14s.

The celebrations then continued into the evening as the children let loose at the disco, which came complete with a bucking bronco.

Kyhanna, 14, enjoyed the evening and said it was a great way to remember Rylan.

She said: "It was really good. We had a memorial rugby match and then there was a bucking bronco and disco.

"It's something we will all remember. We got a medal off Rylan's mum as well. It made me feel proud."
