A MAN who has denied assaulting a member of staff at a Barrow hospital is set to stand trial tomorrow.
Jamil Miah, 29, of Spencer Street, Burnley, pleaded not guilty to assaulting Peter Dyer, a surgeon at Furness General Hospital, in a hearing at Furness Magistrates' Court on October 13.
The defendant also denied using threatening and insulting behaviour towards Mr Dyer and his colleague Stephanie Gillies in an incident on March 10 earlier this year.
Miah was set to stand trial for both offences on October 27, but the case was adjourned until December 7.
The defendant was granted conditional bail following the initial hearing on October 13 which prevented him from entering Cumbria prior to his trial date.
He also had to report to Burnley police station on a daily basis and not contact any of the witnesses involved in the case.
