A BARROW man has been told to expect a prison sentence after he pleaded guilty to an attack which left a man with severe head injuries.
Simon Ashworth, 27, pleaded guilty to section 18 wounding with intent when he appeared at Preston Crown Court.
Following the attack at around 11.30pm on May 11, in Schooner Street, Barrow Island, the victim was taken to Furness General hospital with severe head injuries. He remained in hospital for several weeks.

During the brief hearing on Monday, Ashworth, of no fixed address, spoke only to confirm his name and enter his guilty plea.
Judge Heather Lloyd warned him to expect a prison sentence when he returns to court to be sentenced on November 11.
The judge remanded Ashworth in custody and ordered a pre-sentence report to assist her in passing sentence next month.
