A MAN involved in dealing heroin and crack cocaine in Barrow has been jailed after he stashed drugs in his boxers.

Callum Jackson of Eldon Street Estate, Oldham, was jailed for two years and eight months yesterday at Preston Crown Court.

The 20-year-old had pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs at an earlier hearing.

Officers from the South Area Drug Squad arrested Jackson on September 1 last year at a property on Sutherland Street, Barrow, where they also seized a single wrap of heroin.

He was searched at Barrow Police Station, where officers found a snap lock bag secreted between his buttocks. The bag contained seven wraps of heroin and 12 rocks of crack cocaine.

Jackson also had a large amount of cash hidden in his socks, and a set of keys that belonged to an address on Collingwood Street, Barrow.

Officers seized a large quantity of heroin and crack cocaine from behind the radiator at this property. The drugs had been split into 300 separate deals worth an approximate street value of £5,000.

Sergeant Jamie Eaton of the South Area Drug Squad said yesterday: “Today’s sentencing is yet another example to those who think they can come to Cumbria to deal drugs and get away with it.

"It will not be tolerated, and our dedicated team will continue to work to ensure that drug dealers are behind bars and not on our streets.”
