THE case of a man accused of carrying knives in public, possession of criminal property and intent to supply cocaine in Barrow has been sent to the higher courts.
John Robert Mayes appeared at Furness and District Magistrates' on Tuesday for a first hearing of the charges.
The 50-year-old of Greendale, Allerthwaite, is accused of carrying a Stanley knife and a double-ended lock knife in School Street, Barrow, on June 11. He is also charged with intent to supply Class A drugs in Barrow on the same day and with possessing cash classed as criminal property on Monday June 12.
Mayes' case was committed to Preston Crown Court and he is due to appear on July 14 at 10am. He was remanded in custody until that date.
