A MAN has been jailed after admitting assaulting an officer in a violent outburst which saw him restrained and pepper sprayed inside a police station.

Anthony Michael Grogan, of HMP Lancaster, appeared at Furness Magistrates' Court on Wednesday July 26 where he pleaded guilty to assaulting an officer in the execution of duty and behaving in a violent manner on January 13.

The 25-year-old was sentenced to 120 days in prison for the assault - Grogan's 11th police assault - and ordered to pay compensation of £150.

Grogan was also sentenced to 14 days in prison, to run concurrent, for the violent behaviour.
