POLICE remain at the scene of an ongoing investigation in Barrow into the death of a 35-year-old man, with one man arrested on suspicion of murder.

Police were called to the Meetings View area of Ormsgill, Barrow, at 10pm yesterday following reports of a man with injuries.

The male was taken to Furness General Hospital by ambulance but died shortly after arriving at hospital.

Police are treating the death as suspicious.

A 44-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and will be questioned by detectives.

Today, Crime Scene Investigation officers were scene at the address in Meetings View and police have been doing door-to-door inquiries.

Shortly before 8pm this evening, police were still present at the scene which remains cordoned off.

Detective Inspector Ian Harwood said: "If you were in the area of Meetings View between these times or if you have any information to offer in connection with this death we would urge you to come forward."

Detectives from Barrow CID are eager to speak to anyone who may have been in the area of Meetings View between 4pm and 10pm yesterday.
