A MAN has been sentenced to three years in prison after being caught with drugs by officers in Barrow.

Ryan Todd, 25, was found with 44 wraps of cocaine and heroin after being stopped and searched by police in the Ferry Road area.

Todd, of Dewham Close, Bolton, was found with the substances in his clothing during the search on August 23.

He was sentenced at Preston Crown Court today after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Sergeant Jamie Eaton, of the South Area Drugs Squad at Cumbria Constabulary, said: "This is yet another example that shows Cumbria Police will not tolerate those involved with drugs.

"Drug suppliers like Todd who come from out of the area cause real damage to not just the individuals they deal with but to our wider communities.

"I am pleased to see that he has been today been removed from our streets."
