SIX of the county's MP's have joined forces to showcase the best of Cumbrian business and produce in parliament.

Politicians including Barrow MP John Woodcock, Copeland MP Jamie Reed and Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron, have united to host Cumbria Day, which aims to highlight the best of what Cumbria has to offer to other politicians.

Copeland MP, Jamie Reed said: "I am delighted to be working with colleagues to host Cumbria Day in Parliament.

"I am incredibly proud of the excellent businesses and produce that we have here in Cumbria, and I look forward to showcasing them to colleagues in December.

"Cumbrian businesses work hard all year round to support the Cumbrian economy and many were affected by devastating floods last winter. I am pleased to be able to facilitate this important national networking opportunity."

The event is set to be held on December 6 and will be sponsored by the Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership.

As well as exhibiting the county's rich food heritage, it will also allow companies to network with other national firms with each MP choosing three businesses to represent their constituency on the day.

They include the Lakes Distillery, which is known for its luxurious range of spirits and Ulverston-based Cumbria Cow Ice Cream, which was set up by a family of fourth generation dairy farmers earlier this year.
