The Barrow & District Disability Association in School Street will once again get a visit from Santa on the first two weekends of December.

The charity's grotto is one of the most popular festive events for local children and gets bigger each year, with the premises transformed into a winter wonderful with decorations, toys and crackers adding to the incredible atmosphere.

Last year was record-breaking for the BDDA grotto, with 575 children making a visit.

Margaret Burrow, chief executive officer of the BDDA, said: "Children love to come along to the grotto. We're really excited.

"Last year we had 575 children and that doesn't include siblings.

"When you add in the parents and grandparents we would have not been far off 2,000 visitors.

"We are already selling tickets. People can come in for vouchers and usually they give them as a present."

The BDDA grotto will be open 10am to 3pm on December 3, 4, 10 and 11.

Entry costs £3 per child and tickets are available from the School Street venue.<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p lang="en" dir="ltr"><a href="https://twitter.com/NWEMlive">@NWEMlive</a> And Santa & his elves return to the annual Grotto held at the centre every year for the first 2 weekends in December! <a href="https://t.co/s962gphPX3">pic.twitter.com/s962gphPX3</a></p>— BDDA (@TheBDDA) <a href="https://twitter.com/TheBDDA/status/798875692347834368">November 16, 2016</a></blockquote>
