A WAVE of support has emerged for a local pet shop owner was threatened with the loss of his licence.
Today (21) Barrow Borough Council will decide on if Living World, in Dalton Road, will be refused a licence to continue selling animals.
The store's owner, Wayne Moffat, vowed to fight the council who alleged his business did not meet the requirements to maintain a licence.
A report prepared by the council states snakes sold by Mr Moffat were not given enough to drink, and that health and safety guidelines for other animals were not met.
Mr Moffat denied any wrongdoing claiming he was being targeted by council officials.
Vocal support was found on Facebook with Shirley Willis saying: "Give the guy a break he's trying to make a living and he certainly has a passion for his animals."
Philip Henderson commentated saying the council's priorities were correctly focused, saying: "The council should worry about the South Lakes Safari Zoo rather than Living World."
A decision will be made later today by the borough council's Licensing Committee.
