A MAN dishonestly received £1,200 of stolen fishing equipment before obstructing a Barrow police officer.

Connor Michael Hughes received the goods, which belonged to John Bagley, knowing that they had been taken from him illegally. The offence took place in Barrow some time between May 9 and June 22.

On June 22, Hughes obstructed Barrow PC Howard, an officer in the line of his duty.

The 22-year-old, of Warwick Road, Liverpool, denied the charges but was found guilty at trial at Furness and District Magistrates' Court on Monday. He will be on a curfew from 7pm until 7am for 90 days, and will also pay £300 court costs and an £85 victim surcharge.
