FAMILIES are invited to join the local cinema community this week as part of Signal Pride.

The LGBT mini-season of films will be kick-started with a family-friendly, coming-of-age tale, Tomboy.

It will be screened at Cooke's Studios in Abbey Road on Thursday, September 28 at 7.30pm.

Tomboy tells the story of 10-year-old Laure learning to define and reinvent her own identity upon moving with her family to a new neighbourhood where she is mistaken for a boy.

This festival-favourite won numerous awards upon its release, including the Teddy Jury Award at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival.

Movie-lovers will not want to miss this rare opportunity to see this acclaimed French masterpiece from groundbreaking and controversial director, Celine Sciamma, noted for her strikingly minimalistic but stylish artistry.

Tickets are available online at signalfilmandmedia.co.uk/signalcinema or you can pop into Signal's offices at Cooke's Studios in Abbey Road.
