A MAN was airlifted to hospital after serious three-vehicle crash at Swarthmoor yesterday.
A white Vauxhall Astra van, a SEAT Ibiza and a Ford Transit van were involved in the collision at approximately 2.30pm.
Firefighters from Barrow and Ulverston worked to cut free one casualty.
A police spokesman said the front seat passenger of the Vauxhall Astra van was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital.
The 58-year-old man, from the Ulverston area, is not believed to have life-threatening injuries.
Two land ambulances attended the scene and the North West Ambulance Service received information about the crash at 2.32pm.
The reopened shortly before 8pm last night following vehicle recovery.
Motorists had been diverted along the coast road while the route was shut.
