Joshua James Flynn, of Rochester Place, Barrow, appeared before Furness Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
He admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards Tom Allen in Crellin Street, Barrow, on October 11, last year and assaulting a PC.
He was jailed for 160 days after magistrates decided the offence was serious and sustained. They took into account that Flynn had consumed excessive alcohol, the offence occurred on hospital grounds and he had a previous record of similar offences.
Flynn was also ordered to pay £500 in compensation and £300 in court costs.
No victim surcharge was ordered in light of the level of compensation awarded to the victim.
