CROWDS were entertained and dazzled by two days of rides and sportsmanship at an It's a Knockout extravaganza.

The event, in Barrow, Park, was organised by Nathaniel Welham and Fiona Lowther from Tesco Extra in Barrow, and crowds watched in awe as people dressed in tutus, wigs and brightly coloured pants flopped, flailed and flew through the course.

Taylor's Fair kept everyone entertained for hours with the classic rides they brought with them.

There were a variety of stalls, jewellery stands, face painting and cakes which had the crowds gathering for hours, despite the grey weather.

Charnley's Home and Garden Centre were victorious in their defeat of the other teams. They were ecstatic to take home the trophy.

Competing teams included: Tesco Extra as Tesco Groovers, Cumbria Alcohol Partnership, Best-One Girls, The Farmers Arms, Ross's Ramblers, Charnley's Home and Garden and BAE Systems.

It's A Knockout raised money for five local charities: The British Heart Foundation, Diabetes UK, Kidsafe UK, Mind in Furness and the North West Air Ambulance.

However, teams could raise funds for their own chosen charity or good community cause through individual sponsorship.

Miss Lowther said: "It was great. There was a lot of support from the community.

"We are just working out how much we have raised.

"All the teams there were fantastic. It was really good because they all dressed up.

"Both myself and Nat are hoping to do another one soon."
