The project aims to ultimately redevelop the derelict site, which covers an area of approximately 400 acres, by building multi-million pound business premises and manufacturing facilities on the land.

The latest works, due to start at the end of August, include site clearance and levelling, decontamination work, the removal of industrial debris, provision of utilities, landscaping and raised earthworks for flooding protection measures.

The council will be hosting a drop-in event to discuss these works and answer any questions from the public between 5pm and 7pm on Wednesday 17 August 17 at St John's Church in Island Road.

The internal road network at the site has already been completed, with construction of the large business park complex already under way and work on a 400-berth marina and Marina Village due to start thereafter.
