MP John Woodcock and former Barrow AFC wing legend Neil Doherty will play their parts in a special event to celebrate the achievements of schoolchildren who took part in the Inspiring Barrow Kickstart programme.

Children from Furness Academy and Walney School year seven who completed the programme will be recognised for their achievements in terms of confidence-building, team-work, communication and resilience.

Mr Woodcock will be on hand to present certificates while Mr Doherty is guest speaker at the event at The Forum in Barrow on Friday.

Students from Furness College media department have collaborated with the Inspiring Barrow project and have produced a video which will be shown at the gathering.

Project lead David Cassidy said: “We are grateful to John and Neil for accepting our invitation to attend our celebration and this is a great example of partnerships working in the town.”

The event gets under way in the Studio at 6pm.
