A CORONER will preside over four inquests later this week.

Assistant coroner for Cumbria, Paul O'Donnell, will sit from 10am onwards at Barrow Town Hall on Wednesday September 20.

The inquests held will attempt to discover the circumstances of how four local people died.

The first inquest concerns the death of Andrew Helly, of Barrow. Mr Helly died, aged 35, at Furness General Hospital on November 27, 2016.

The second inquest will be for David Heath, 78, of Bowness, who died on January 13 at Furness General Hospital.

The third will investigate the death of Minnie Dodd, 96, of Barrow, who died on August 27, in Barrow.

The fourth and final inquest will examine the death of Kirkby man, Thomas Woodend. The 75-year-old died at Furness General Hospital on September 20.
