A HEARTWARMING display of generosity has secured the future of a local business, leaving its owners "humbled."
In May the owners of Peace and Loaf Bakehouse, in Barrow's Dalton Road appealed for help to keep their shop open.
A hike in business rates meant only a costly refit would keep them in business.
Within a week, the £5,000 needed by the baking duo Caroline Davis and Lucas Hogg has been raised.
All in all, £7,195 was raised by a fantastic 304 backers through their Kickstarter page.
On top of that, anonymous cash donations made in store amounted to £667.20, resulting in a final figure of £7,862.20.
Mr Hogg said he was still in shock now that the final tally had come in, he said: "We're a bit in shock to be honest, it's finally real.
"Massive thank you to everyone and for all the shares online. This project really has saved us, we were rock bottom. It's been so positive and great for us and the town, power of the people eh! Truly humbled."
