IMPROVEMENTS will be made at Barrow train station as part of a £1 billion investment by Northern in the hopes of transforming rail travel across eight locations.
Between now and April, brand new ticket gates will be fitted inside Barrow station as part of plans to modernise services throughout the North West.
To pass through these gates you will need to possess a valid ticket for travel.
Tickets can be purchased online, using the mobile app, self-service ticket machine or ticket office.
Ticket gates will capture your ticket if you have completed your journey.
It is hoped these new ticket gates will help improve journeys through main stations at peak times and help avoid congestion.
Gates will also help reduce the number of passengers travelling without a ticket, improve security and discourage anti-social behaviour.
