HUNDREDS of pounds have been raised so far by a grieving community to pay for the funeral of a Barrow man who died in a suspected murder case.

Guy Hamilton, 35, died on Saturday after he was found with serious injuries in the street outside his home in Meetings View, Barrow.

A 44-year-old Barrow man, Damien Hill, of no fixed abode, is today set to appear at Preston Crown Court charged with murder.

The Ormsgill community has united in its grief following Mr Hamilton's death and has come together to raise money to be put towards his funeral costs.

Collection buckets placed in the Tally Ho pub in Schneider Road are already filling up and a crowdfunding page has attracted pledges totalling £250 as of last night.

Mr Hamilton's friend, Stacey Jepson, is also set to take part in Saturday's 42-mile Keswick to Barrow walk in his memory.

The Evening Mail understands Mr Hamilton's family are in the process of organising the funeral and will release details when they are available.
