INSPIRED by their battling two-year-old, a family are hoping to raise thousands for the hospital which saved their daughter's life.

Jason Andrews and his wife Sheree have spoken of the "horrible" fight after hearing their daughter wouldn't make it through the night.

Daisy Brooke Andrews, who turned two in September last year, will be guest of honour on the night.

Mr Andrews said: "Sheree started having some contractions but we didn't think anything of it because it had only been 29 weeks, but she had some tests and they said she was in labour.

"Shortly after she was born she was raced to Preston and my wife had to wait to be discharged before we could go with her."

Daisy stayed in Preston for ten days, before being transferred to Lancaster, and then back to FGH, where she stayed for four weeks.

Mr Andrews said: "We were told she could come home just before Christmas in 2015, but then she was rushed back to hospital shortly after being released with bronchitis and a collapsed lung.

"I got a phone call from my wife at 4am to say she wasn't going to make it through the night.

"It was the most horrible experience of my life. To hear that just crushes you."

The family, of Napier Street, Barrow, have hired the Kill One, on Duke Street, for an evening of family fun day on Thursday, starting at 7pm, with all money raised going to the Special Care Baby Unit and the Children's Ward.

"The doctors couldn't get her incubated and they only had one more try at it. Thankfully they did it and they saved her life.

"They did so much to help us and we just wanted to do something for them.

"You look at her now and you wouldn't think she had been through anything. She is a right little character."
