POSTERS designed by youngsters have revealed their hopes of Barrow becoming a paradise.

A number of illustrations have been put up on the blue hoarding surrounding the waterfront site under development in Barrow off Salthouse Road.

Designed by local schoolchildren, one of the posters describes how Barrow is "an achievable paradise" but urges that everyone must play their part by adding "it just needs you".

The concept of everyone working together to improve the area is one which has come up on a number of occasions as issues in the town are highlighted.

Litter in the streets, particularly in the town centre, is one which has led to some to call for everyone to take collective responsibility and do their bit to clean up Barrow.

Businesses, council bosses, elected politicians and residents - including youngsters, will all need to join forces and work together, the idea argues.

Earlier this week, Barrow's Business Improvement District (BID), in partnership with council bosses, The Mail and businessmen, launched a campaign to enter Barrow in the Great British High Street competition in 2018.

Ahead of the entry, the group plan to clean up Barrow and turn Dalton Road into a more attractive high street.

“The hub of the town centre is critical to the wealth and investment coming into the area but we all have a part to play,” BID chairman Simon Craig said.
