A BRAVE Barrow youngster who does not let health and development conditions stop him from being happy is nominated for The Mail's Christmas Stars.

Lawson Watson, who is 23-months-old, has epilepsy and delayed development. The little lad does not speak just yet, he is unable to hear and he is having investigation medical investigations regarding his genetics.

Lawson was born at 35 weeks due to ventriculomegaly, which is the enlargement of the ventricles of the brain.

The little lad suffered with seizures, but medication has brought these under control.

Lawson is a patient of Furness General Hospital and the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital and he has had to spent a lot of time in and out of the hospitals that are investigating and treating his various conditions.

His proud mum Danielle Watson, said: "Lawson has epilepsy, delayed development with no speech, he is currently unable to hear and he is under investigation regarding genetics.

He was born at 35 weeks due to ventricularmegaly of the brain. He has had to have numerous appointments here and in Manchester, but he’s always happy and smiling and let's nothing hold him back.

He loves all the Christmas lights and as his mummy I’d like to show him how brave he really is. He will always be a star to us.

The Mail works with Heath's Toymaster, The Forum, the cast of Barrow panto Cinderella and Barrow and District Disability Association to celebrate courageous and selfless children in our communities and give them some magical Christmas surprises.

Our bravery and selflessness winners receive an early Christmas visit at home from Father Christmas, who delivers beautiful toys courtesy of Heath's Toymaster in Dalton Road, Barrow.

The Mail also hosts a special Christmas Stars party at The Forum, in Barrow, next week where deserving children meet the stars of this year's panto, Cinderella, and Father Christmas presents them with a gift.

Christmas Stars is open to children from Furness, Millom and south Cumbria who are aged up to 14 years. Nominations close tonight (Thursday December 14) just before midnight.
