BUSINESSES and groups are being encouraged to rally teams together and put them forward for an It's a Knock Out charity event in Barrow.

It's a Knock Out takes place on Sunday September 24, as part of Tesco Barrow's Family Fun Weekend at Barrow Park.

Teams will be cheered on by the public as they take on an inflatable course of obstacles in aid of charities and good causes. The contest is based on the nostalgic comedy TV show, which first ran in the late 1960s.

It's a Knock Out and the Family Fun Weekend are raising money for five local charities; The British Heart Foundation, Diabetes UK, Kidsafe UK, Mind in Furness and the North West Air Ambulance. The teams can however raise funds for their own chosen charity or good community cause through individual sponsorship.

The competition is for teams of 10 people. The total cost per team is £200. The event is open to those aged 10 upwards. Everyone entering receives a free t.shirt and prize for completing the course. Names can be printed on the t.shirts at an additional cost.

Those wanting to take part are asked to fill in a registration form. The forms are available from the Tesco Extra and Tesco Metro stores in Barrow. The forms must then be returned to those stores.

Tesco last ran It's A Knock Out and the Family Fun Weekend in 2014.

Fiona Lowther, Tesco community champion for Tesco Metro, said; "It's a Knock Out is a great team building experience and a fabulous event for the whole community. It's a fun event."

Tesco Barrow's Family Fun Weekend takes place on Saturday September 23 and Sunday September 24 in the park. On both days there will be a fun fair, bouncy castles, face painting, donkey rides, Tesco's Farm to Fork stand, ice cream, refreshment stalls and raffles.

The event supporters include Tesco Barrow, Liberata and Graphix Signs.
