GCSE students from across south Cumbria and the Millom area have made their families proud.

Reuben Howe was delighted with his top grades and to learn that he had made the most progress out of the whole Year 11 group at Furness Academy, in Barrow.

Reuben said: "I feel really, really good. A lot of these results I did not expect at all.

"I was very nervous before getting my results.

"My time at Furness Academy has been absolutely amazing. All my teachers have been supportive."

His mum Tanis Howe was at school to see Reuben open his results. Mrs Howe said: "I'm exceptionally proud of him."

Reuben is heading to Ulverston Victoria High School Sixth Form. He hopes to go into nuclear science.

Harry Limitsios and his friends were celebrating good results at St Bernard's Catholic High School.

He received three A*s, including two eights, four As, including a seven, and a B. Harry said: I'm pleased with my results. I enjoyed my time at St Bernard's."

He is going to Barrow Sixth Form College and aims to go into law.

Sydney Lee achieved two A*s, with two grade eights, five As, including a seven and a C at St Bernard's. She said: "I feel happy with all my grades.

"I've made a lot of friends at St Bernard's and my teachers have been really great. I've been part of the school council while here."

Sydney is heading to Barrow Sixth Form College.

St Bernard's deputy head boy, Chris Bradbury achieved six A*s, including two grade nines, and two As, including a seven.

He said: "I feel very pleased. I have been very nervous waiting for my results, but I did better than I expected.

"It's been a really good experience being deputy head boy. It's a really good school."

Chris is going to Barrow Sixth Form College.

At Dowdales School, in Dalton, Luke Maddox said: "I feel on top of the world right now" on collecting five A*s, including two nines and an eight, an A and a B.

The student who played basketball for the school said: "I'm really, really happy. Dowdales has been great."

He is heading to Barrow Sixth Form College and he hopes to become a nuclear physicist.

Thomas Huddleston achieved six A*s, including a nine and two eights, three As and a B at Dowdales. He said: "I feel pretty ecstatic."

Thomas is going to Barrow Sixth Form College and he wants to go into accounting.

Daniel Price gained five A*s, including a nine and an eight, an A from a grade seven and a B at Dowdales. He said: "I feel good.

"I was pretty stressed out about my exams, but I got through it. The teachers are really good here. Daniel is going to BAE Systems to do a design apprenticeship."

Joshua Griffiths, achieved seven A*s, including two nines, and two As, including a seven at Dowdales School.

The student who competes in national kickboxing events, said: "I feel very happy. I did do a lot of revision.

"It's been really good at Dowdales."

Joshua is heading to Barrow Sixth Form College, he is considering studying science or maths at university.

Nell Wedgwood was amazed by her six A*s, including two nines, and four As, including a seven. The Dowdales student said: "I feel quite shocked. I'm happy."

She is heading to Ulverston Victoria High School Sixth Form.
