THE funeral of a popular Barrow stalwart is to take place next Friday.
The funeral service of Jack Richardson, a former leader of Barrow Borough Council and mayor, is to be held on Friday November 4 at St George's Church, in Barrow.
The service starts at 11.15am. It will be followed by a private committal at Thorncliffe Crematorium.
Donations will go to Parkinson's UK. There will be family flowers only.
Mr Richardson, 80, of Barrow, passed away peacefully on Sunday, surrounded by his family. He had bravely fought Parkinson's disease.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley, four children and three grandchildren.
Mr Richardson was a Conservative borough and county councillor for more than 25 years. He served Hawcoat on the borough council up until last year.
Mr Richardson was also the former Conservative group leader on Cumbria County Council.
