TWO friends who met at Barrow Sixth Form College congratulated each other on achieving an identical set of great A-Level results.

Sophie Newsham and Kelly Stokes were made up with their A,B and C grades.

The 18-year-olds both achieved As in law, Bs in history and Cs in maths.

Sophie, of Ireleth, is heading to Manchester Metropolitan University to study history, while Kelly, of Walney, will join GSK Ulverston as a supply chain higher apprentice.

Sophie said: "I'm relieved and happy with my results. I've always liked history and I'm looking forward to studying at university.

"I've really enjoyed sixth form. We met here at sixth form and we are now really good friends. We have had really good tutors."

Kelly said: "I'm so happy with my results. We cried during our maths exam, but it turned out OK.

"I'm looking forward to joining GSK to train and get experience. I had a great time at sixth form."

Barrow Sixth Former Euan Lee secured an A*and two As, Jennifer Managh achieved an A* and two As, while Joseph Bell, India Grace and Tyler Bircher also gained a string of A*s and As.

Chloe Rowe achieved three As and will go to Newcastle University to study biomedicine, Aina Mercant Osuna gained three As and a B, Ben Turnough secured three As and a B and takes up a higher apprenticeship in nuclear at BAE Systems and Jackson Readett’s two As and two Bs mean he will take up a scientific apprenticeship at Sellafield from September.
