FOUR men arrested on suspicion of offences under the Modern Slavery Act have been bailed until later this month.

Cumbria police have confirmed that the men, aged between 30 and 70 years old, and all from Barrow, have been bailed until "a date later this month".

Three of the four men were arrested on Friday, with the fourth being arrested on Saturday.

The four men were questioned on Saturday and then released on bail later that night.

A spokesman from Cumbria Constabulary said: "Police received a report of assault from the alleged victim, a 68-year-old female, on March 31.

"She is being supported by trained officers.

"Offences of this nature are a rare occurrence and we can reassure the public that they are being investigated diligently and professionally by a dedicated team in Barrow CID."

Police said they carried out an initial enquiry at a post office in Oxford Street but stressed that the post office has no connection to the alleged offences or has any link to the arrested suspects.
