A FORMER mascot of Barrow Raiders is hosting two charity events this Friday to help a little boy walk.
Albert Cheale, who was Rocky the Raider, is putting on a family fun day and an entertainment night in Barrow this Friday in aid of the Help Joe to Walk Fund.
Eight-year-old Joe Morgan, of Ulverston, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at nine-months-old. To help Joe stand tall again, his family are trying to raise £100,000 to pay for life-changing surgery for him in the United States.
There are two fundraising events at Roose Cons Club on Friday. The fun day runs from 11am to 6pm and there will be a funfair, donkey rides, face painting, carboot sale, craft stalls, tombola and refreshments. Then from 7.30pm there will be an entertainment night at the club with a 60's theme, fancy dress is optional. There will be karaoake, an auction and a raffle. Pre-tickets are available from Age Concern on Rawlinson Street, Barrow, costing £2. Tickets on the door cost £3.
