A FLOOD warning remains in place after parts of Cumbria faced heavy rain.

Motorists and residents continue to be warned for potential flooding on the Coast Road and around Morecambe Bay.

The Environment Agency issued a flood alert for the high tide at 1.36pm at Barrow today (13), with tides at their highest two hours either side of this time.

The alert is to remain in place tomorrow, with a high tide at Barrow expected at 2.40am.

Locations likely to be affected are Roosebeck, Canal Foot, East Plain Farm, Arnside, Sandside. The Environment Agency are have closed tidal gates.

Tidal spray and onshore flooding may occur to roads and some properties along the coast may be affected.

People are warned to stay away from the coast.

According to the Met Office, tomorrow's forecast should be a drier affair.

With highs of 17C and lows of 16C, they predict the rain will largely stay away until Wednesday morning.

They predict a 50 per cent likelihood of rain around 2pm.

The Met Office said: "A cloudy start with outbreaks of patchy light rain and drizzle, mainly over hills and coasts.

"There will be occasional bright or sunnier spells developing inland during the afternoon.

"Cloudy with patchy rain at first on Wednesday, before heavier rain arrives later. Cooler and fresher, with sunny spells and showers on Thursday. Cloudier, breezier with some patchy rain Friday."

The forecast high tide level is 4.94 mAOD at Barrow.
