FIREFIGHTERS were called after members of the public reported smelling burning plastic in a large residential area of Barrow.
Crews from Walney and Barrow fire stations were tasked just after 10.30pm last night to Island Road on Barrow Island after members of the public reported a strong smell of burning plastic.
The crews carried out a thorough search of the area after noticing the burning smell themselves but were unable to find the source. Firefighters fitted a number of smoke alarms at flats in the area during the callout.
