A DRUNKEN reveller who was thrown out of a Barrow pub has been fined after cannabis was found in his possession.

Allan Edward Thompson, 57, of Schooner Street, was charged with being drunk and disorderly and possession of a controlled drug.

On Wednesday September 27 at South Cumbria Magistrates' Court Mr Peter Kelly, prosecuting, told the court: "At 2am on September 9 police were outside the Theatre Bar. Door staff were dealing with Mr Thompson who was wrestled to the floor.

"He was escorted out of the premises. He was upset, kicking the officers."

Thompson was arrested for being drunk and disorderly in a public place. A grinder was found on him containing a small quantity of cannabis.

Before he was arrested the court heard how Thompson had consumed around five pints of Carlsberg and "a few" glasses of wine.

Mr Andrew Gibson, defending, said Mr Kelly's account was an accurate depiction of the facts.

Thompson pleaded guilty to both offences.

District Judge Gerald Chalk, sentencing, fined Thompson £30 for being drunk and disorderly and £75 for possession of cannabis.

He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and costs of £85.
