CAMERON URGED TO MAKE STATEMENT ON FINANCIAL AFFAIRS IN PARLIAMENT

 David Cameron faces demands to give a statement in Parliament setting out his financial affairs as he struggled to draw a line under the row over his connection to his late father's offshore business interests. The Prime Minister will give a speech launching the Conservatives' local election campaign in an attempt to shift the focus away from his personal finances after admitting he had made a £19,000 profit from a Bahamas-based fund set up by Ian Cameron. But Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn called for the the Prime Minister to make a formal Commons statement on the issue, claiming Mr Cameron had "misled the public" and "lost the trust of the British people". 

ARCHBISHOP OF CANTERBURY'S SHOCK OVER BIOLOGICAL FATHER REVELATION

 The Archbishop of Canterbury has discovered that his real father was Sir Winston Churchill's last private secretary. The Most Rev Justin Welby, who believed his father was Gavin Welby, said it was "a complete surprise" to find through DNA evidence that his biological father was the late Sir Anthony Montague Browne. His mother, Lady Williams of Elvel, 86, described the revelation as "an almost unbelievable shock", but recalled going to bed with Sir Anthony "fuelled by a large amount of alcohol on both sides". 

FACEBOOK REMOVES WEAPONS ADVERTISEMENTS 

Facebook has removed pages offering weapons for sale. Revolvers, rifles and sub-machine guns built or designed in Britain were listed for sale in secret arms-trading groups on the website, according to The Times. The weapons were advertised alongside anti-tank weapons, rocket launchers, heavy machine guns, portable anti-aircraft systems and grenade launchers manufactured in Europe, Russia and the United States, the newspaper said.

MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER OF 79-YEAR-OLD FOSTER MOTHER 

A 32-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a foster mother whose body was found in the burnt remains of her home. Norma Bell, who took care of more than 50 foster children as well as three of her own, was discovered in the property on Westbourne Road, Hartlepool. Police launched a murder investigation after they confirmed she died before the fire began at her house, some time between late evening on April 2 and the morning of April 3. 

'URGENT' ACTION DEMANDED OVER CALAIS CHILD ASYLUM SEEKERS AIMING FOR UK 

The Children's Commissioner for England has called on authorities in France to speed up processing scores of lone child asylum seekers who may be eligible to come to the UK. Anne Longfield has written to the French government asking for urgent action to be taken in relation to an estimated 150 unaccompanied minors in a refugee camp in Calais. Under European regulations known as Dublin III, child asylum seekers can have their claims transferred to another EU country if they have relatives there. 

'HUGE GENDER PAY GAP' FOR YOUNG WOMEN WITH VOCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS 

Young women earn 15% less than men even if they have similar vocational qualifications, according to a report. Research by the TUC found that men aged between 22 and 30 with a vocational qualification above GCSE level earn £10 per hour on average, compared with £8.50 for women. The TUC said one of the main reasons is because young women work mainly in sectors where pay is poorer. 

LYDIA LUCY AND CODY FROST LOOK TO SHAKE OFF ILLNESS AHEAD OF THE VOICE 

The Voice contestants Lydia Lucy and Cody Frost are unwell, but both are determined to perform on Saturday's final live show of the series. "I'm very excited about the final, but unfortunately, I haven't been feeling too well over the last couple of days," Essex's Lucy told the Press Association. The 22-year-old cancelled a performance at G-A-Y nightclub which was originally scheduled for Friday night. Lancastrian Frost, who coughed several times during her interview, said she was "really ill", adding: "I've got some sort of, don't know what it is yet." 

BRITAIN'S GOT TALENT HOPEFUL'S SWORD SWALLOWING ACT LEAVES JUDGES SPEECHLESS 

Britain's Got Talent contestant Alexandr Magala left all four judges on the panel speechless after his sword-swallowing act. Simon Cowell, David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden visibly winced and covered their eyes as they watched Magala pass a sword through his mouth. The 26-year-old from Moldova performed what has been described as "one of the most dangerous acts ever" on the hit ITV show. 

CALLS TO REMOVE VANDALISED DONALD TRUMP STAR FROM HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME Thousands of people have signed a petition calling for Donald Trump's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to be removed after it was repeatedly targeted by vandals. The landmark honouring the American billionaire has been daubed with a swastika, a mute symbol and even dog excrement during his controversial campaign to become the next US president. Mr Trump, who is the front-runner to secure the Republican nomination, has been criticised for calling for a ban on Muslims entering the US and claiming women should face "some sort of punishment" for having abortions if the procedure is outlawed.

Irish siblings Andrea, Jim, Caroline and Sharon Corr are back together after a decade away from the limelight. Having released new album White Light, they are mid-way through a world tour - and in June they will headline summer concert series Nocturne at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire.
