CASH and barbecue packs were scooped up by a number of our lucky readers, including a mother and daughter who by chance won on the same day.

One of our lucky few who walked away with £100 in cash was Gladys Thexton, 76, of Oxford Street, Barrow.

Mrs Thexton was a recent winner of another Evening Mail competition, putting that money towards a trip to Southport and Liverpool with her husband, Alec, and may look to do something similar again.

She said: "It feels wonderful, absolutely wonderful. It is always nice and there is always something we can do with it."

In a stroke of coincidence, Mary Pearson, 65, and Jennifer Pearson, 38, both from Walney, are mother and daughter respectively and both won Evening Mail barbecue packs after entering the competition individually.

Jennifer Pearson said: "You don't expect to win any of them but then you get the call and it's nice. I texted my mum and then she told me soon after that she had won too.

Mary Pearson added: "If I bought every raffle ticket I would not expect to win and I never play the Lottery, but its nice to win when you do."

Another barbecue pack winner was Sandra O'Neill, 47, of St Mary's Road, Barrow. She said: "It is always nice to win; it is a nice surprise. A lot of people will be having barbecues and it is always nice to have something to go with it.

Thirty-five-year-old Michelle Round of Barrow was our other winner of a barbecue pack, and will be putting the recipe books included in the prize to good use.

She said: "I had some of the Evening Mail stamps and thought I would give it a go. I will definitely be using the recipe books."
