AVON and Somerset police has become the fifth force in the country to say it will turn a blind eye to cannabis use if it is for personal consumption.

The force follows Durham, Derbyshire, Dorset and Surrey in saying they will focus on targeting the dealers and producers of the drug, rather than the users.

What do you think? Should Cumbria police turn a blind eye to cannabis use?

So far, a whopping 83 per cent of voters believe they should. There's plenty of debate over on our Facebook page too:

Should Cumbria police turn a blind eye to cannabis use?
Yes - they should just focus on the dealers and producers
No - users should be prosecuted as well as dealers and producers
