EQUIPMENT worth tens of thousands of pounds has been handed over to Furness General Hospital.

The Hospital Equipment Fund for Furness (HEFF) has donated £20,000 in equipment to the hospital as part of its annual donation.

For the past 30 years, the charity has donated essential pieces of equipment to the hospital from funds raised in its Cavendish Street shop, local charitable funds and other activities and events organised by HEFF.

The donation included a range of specialist equipment that can be used to assist the hospital's X-ray department, Intensive Care Unit and Clinical Decisions Unit.

John Dixon, chairman of the HEFF committee, is pleased to be able to help out each year and was delighted by the hospital's reaction to the donation.

He said: "The committee is quite an elderly committee but very, very keen.

"We work really hard to raise money so we feel as though we're giving something back to support our hospital and our community."
