POLICE refused travel to eight drunk people on the last train home to Barrow from Lancaster after they stopped the carriage doors from closing and pulled the emergency alarm.

British Transport Police said they were called to Lancaster railway station on Saturday night.

A group of eight people were refused travel onboard the train after they prevented the train doors from closing and then pulled the alarm.

Police then had to break up the group and spent the next hour and-a-half splitting them up as taxis refused to take them home.

In response to questions about the incident, the officers posted on Twitter: "Remaining passengers on the train will have had a better journey home & it likely stopped us being called to train farther down the line."
