PERFORMERS from Barrow took two out of three top prizes in a charity talent competition which raised more than £3,000 for good causes.

Chris Barker, 25, won £1000 for the CAST Theatre Company in Barrow, in the Charity Stars contest organised by Furness Building Society with the Bay Radio.

Rebecca Williams, 16, of Walney, was third and she won £500 for Barrow Vision Support Centre.

Chris stunned the judges and the audience with his powerhouse delivery of ‘The Impossible Dream’ to win the top prize in the competition at the Lancaster Grand Theatre.

He faced tough competition from the 13 other acts from across the North West, and especially Rebecca, who matched him note for note with her virtuoso performance of the amazing ‘Girl in 13 G’ which combines opera, jazz and musical theatre-style in the same song.

All of the finalists in Charity Stars received £100 for their chosen charity, including Alex McCormack, 12, of Barrow, appearing for the Lookin Good Feelin Great support group set up by women in Furness who have battled cancer.
