DOG walkers are being warned to take care after a temporary cover on a dangerous manhole was removed.
The uncovered manhole, in a popular dog-walking area near to Barrow docks off Ramsden Dock Road, was first flagged up last week by contractors working at the site of the new warehouse being built for BAE Systems in Dova Way.
The uncovered manhole is on land owned by Cumbria County Council and is a popular walking spot for dog owners.
On Monday, Cumbria County Council told the Evening Mail the issue was set to be resolved that day and a large concrete ring was placed over the hole temporarily, to prevent anyone from falling down it.
However, as of Wednesday morning, the concrete had been pushed away from the hole, leading to dog walkers to once more warn others of the dangerous spot. It is understood a new cover is set to be installed.
