VISITORS to Furness Abbey later this month will be able to experience what it was like to experience the historic ruins as a Victorian tourist.
On Sunday July 23, people will have the chance to see why Victorian tourists flocked to the area for a day out.
Every summer many tourists would flock to the site at Furness Abbey to enjoy a wander around the romantic ruins while soaking up the atmosphere, history and country air.
On the open day visitors will be able to experience events like Iron Shepherd Living History and Victorian fun and games.
Between 10am and 5pm there will be a variety of toys and games to play with and performances from Dalton Town Brass Band, the Furness Morris Dancers and the Furness Nightingales.
There will also be tours of the site, and refreshments available from the Abbey Mill Cafe.
