INTREPID explorers got up close and personal with a range of prehistoric beasts as Dinosaur World arrived in Barrow.

Families packed out the event, which was held at The Forum in Duke Street over the weekend, and saw the creatures great and small come to life on the big stage.

Delighted dino fans lapped up the after show's meet and greet where they got to pet the playful baby T-rex and learn all about their favourite creatures from zookeeper Miranda Stagg.

While there were a few tears from frightened tots, laughter and shrieks of joy bellowed out from the crowds who waited patiently for their turn to have a stroke.

One family said they thought the show was brilliant, with many more commenting on what a wonderful concept the performance was.

Using stunning puppetry to bring a range of remarkably lifelike dinosaurs to the stage, the show revealed a host of impressive creatures, including every child's favourite flesh-eating giant, the tyrannosaurus rex, along with a giraffatitan, segnosaurus and baby triceratops, to name buta few.

The UK tour introduced audiences to the lost island of Mundo De Los Lagartos Terribles, an island off the east coast of South America.

This land of giant lizards was rumoured to be inhabited by dinosaurs who had escaped mass extinction at the end of the cretaceous period.

This entertaining and engaging show was well received by its packed out audience who attended shows over two days.
