A TEAM of cyclists have set off on a demanding physical challenge to help raise money for disabled children across the area.

Mark Kenny, of Furness Park Road in Barrow, is cycling the Coast to Coast to raise money for the Rainbow House Cumbria, an innovative charity that delivers specialist therapy to children.

This is the fourth time Mr Kenny has taken on the challenge in honour of his 13-year-old daughter, Tabetha, who receives therapy for her cerebral palsy at the centre.

Seven friends and colleagues will be joining Mr Kenny on his 150 mile quest that is due to be completed in Wear later today.

Speaking before the challenge, he said: "We've got a really good team this year. We've all put in a lot of training and we've improved and are well organised. "I'm really looking forward to it."

Mr Kenny is hoping to raise thousands of the pounds for the charity to provide more therapy sessions for children in Barrow.
